Deepworld Launches A Kickstarter Project To Fund A Mac Beta Deepworld is a 2D built-in sandbox that's similar to Minecraft. I met them at GDC in March and informed them that the game would be more than they had anticipated. They have a lot of experience in developing servers and software, but running a game of this size requires an investment of significant size. It looks like they now are in agreement. MINECRAFT EVENTS SERVERS has inspired a Kickstarter project to try and raise some early funds for servers and development. The group is offering a variety of prizes to supporters, including your own personal servers and worlds, art books and other swag, plus the possibility of receiving your own items, your name or even images included in the game itself. The goal is US$20,000 overall and the team has collected around $4,000. They intend to make the project a full-time occupation and this funding will allow them to do so. I wish them all the best. Deepworld looks great, and as I said when I first saw it, the Mac (and iOS) would benefit from a game that's like this.
